CASE STUDY: Lighting a Showroom for Success

Challenge
For this end user, a rapidly growing post-frame construction company based in Okotoks, AB, relocating to a new space required lighting that would:
- Highlight key features in their showroom
- Attract visitors to a feature wall showcasing their past project successes
- Guide customers through the space to the consultation area
The construction company engaged iWire Electric Ltd owner and commercial electrical contractor Nick Barysien.
Like all electrical contractors, Nick is skilled in electrical planning and installation, compatibility, safety and code compliance, and has experience with fixture placement. And, like many electricians, design aesthetics and technical details relating to beam angle, lux, and color temperature are familiar to him, but not his core expertise.
Solution
Soon after hearing his client’s needs, Nick reached out to his Lighting Specialist at EECOL, to schedule a site visit.
Shortly after, Denise began working directly with the construction company as an extension of Nick’s team. She made several visits to the site and provided multiple options for consideration to the end user’s interior designer. Layout design options and fixture recommendations from Denise reflected the company’s brand and personality and complemented the interior design aesthetic. The winning plan included several fixtures, most notably a modern alternative to traditional ceiling panel lighting - a multi-panel, suspended frame cluster design. The clusters are cost-effective and provide a far more unique and eye-catching arrangement.
These light clusters act as visual stepping stones, taking visitors through the various areas of their showroom, down a hall of their past projects, to consultation areas where key decisions are made.
Results
After completing the job, the end user reached out to express their appreciation for how everything came together and how it enhanced the look and feel of the space.
Denise and Nick have partnered on numerous projects since including upgrading shop lighting for this very same client to improve overall lighting levels and new LED fixtures for energy efficiency.
